Romantic Road from the River Main to the Alps
Romantic Road online booking

The Romantic Road is an outstanding tourist route and meets all criteria for tourist routes required by the German Tourism Association, such as signposts that are clear and easy to follow. Motorists use the brown coloured signposts, cyclists follow the green signs and the blue ones mark the long-distance hiking trail. The Romantic Road headquarters are located in Dinkelsbühl and offer very helpful advice and assistance when planning a stay. It issues information about cycling and trekking tours, city trips, and short and single-day excursions. The information packages, which can be ordered on request, also contain a calendar of events and an accommodation directory which contains hotels, guesthouses, holiday apartments and boarding houses, as well as a list of caravan and camping sites.

The Romantic Railway is operated by Bayernbahn and the Bavarian Railway Museum in Nördlingen and connects the three former free imperial towns of Feuchtwangen, Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen with one another. On the first three Sundays in Advent, there is a connection with the German Railway network in Dombühl and Nördlingen. In addition to an interactive map containing the four possibilities for travelling from the Main region to the Alps – or vice versa – all catalogues are available as downloads. Greetings from the Romantic Road can be sent by means of electronic postcards and there is a Newsletter providing items of news and other facts worth knowing. Kindred spirits and the curious-minded can also meet on Facebook’s Romantic Road Fan Page, where further personal and informative topics can be exchanged and discussed.
