Paradise in the land of twelve lakes


There really are twelve of them, even after a recount! A dozen lakes can be seen from the Buchenberg mountain, turquoise expanses in the picturesque landscape around Halblech. No matter where you look, you encounter views worthy of a picture postcard: gentle hills, colourful meadows, cows grazing, churches, fluffy cotton clouds in a blue sky. Today, we’re going on a hike to the Kenzenalm and we’ll be sampling the apricot dumplings (Mariellenknödel) and shredded pancakes (Kaiserschmarrn), but tomorrow, we’re going to walk along one of the many hiking trails right down in the valley - and at the end of the day, of course, we’ll go and take a dip in one of the lakes. There’s plenty of choice …
