Greeting on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the German Romantic Road Association
I would like to congratulate you on the 75th anniversary of the German Romantic Road Association. On November 25, 1998, the Romantic Roads of Japan and Germany signed a partnership agreement.
Since then, 37 years have passed and many exchanges have taken place. The towns of Füssen and Numata have become twin towns through the Romantic Road and still have close ties with each other. The village of Tsumagoi donated around 200 cherry trees to Paiting, which are now set to blossom.
The 25th anniversary of the exchange agreement was celebrated with an exchange ceremony at the Gunma Prefectural Government with the official delegation of the German Romantic Road Association and a visit by the Japanese Romantic Road Association to Germany.
We would like to continue to promote exchange between Germany and Japan in the future. I understand that the people of Numata will visit the town of Füssen on September 18 and hold a ceremony there. I would like to convey my best wishes to the mayor of Numata. I would like to conclude my message with a wish for the further development of friendship and goodwill between Germany and Japan and for the continued growth of your German Romantic Road Association.
Sakae Kumagawa
Chairman of the Japan Romantic Road Association Mayor of Tsumakoi village
