Festivals – not just in the summer months
The Romantic Road is the festival route in Germany. Festivals are held virtually everywhere along the tourist route – from the Prince-Bishop’s Residence in Würzburg to the Singer Room in the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein.
Between spring and late summer in particular, the programme covers the complete spectrum from operas, operettas, musicals, organ, piano, chamber and orchestra music, via comedies, tragedies and children’s plays, to theatre classic and modern, historical re-enactments, folklore, jazz and pop. When it comes to historical re-enactments, there can be as many as 1,000 children playing the leading role. Locations suitable for groups include not only open-air theatres but also castles, palaces, churches, monasteries and a variety of other historical venues.
