Itinerary
DAY 1: Würzburg – Bad Mergentheim
Travel to Würzburg and visit the city. Like the Limes near Dinkelsbühl and the Wieskirche near Steingaden, the Residenz is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Bad Mergentheim, where you will spend the night.
DAY 2: Bad Mergentheim – Rothenburg o.d.T.
Along the Tauber, to Weikersheim with its magnificent castle and Creglingen. The day’s destination is the most romantic town in Germany: Rothenburg o.d.T.
DAY 3: Rothenburg – Nördlingen
The route leads over the Frankenhöhe to Schillingsfürst and Feuchtwangen. The town of Dinkelsbühl is one of the masterpieces of German urban architecture. Nördlingen is the only town that you can walk around completely on the town wall.
DAY 4: Nördlingen – Augsburg – Wies – Füssen
Morning sightseeing tour of Augsburg. Continue to the Pfaffenwinkel with the most beautiful rococo church in Germany, the Wies. Füssen, Bavaria’s highest town with its picturesque old town and mountain backdrop, is the end point of the Romantic Road.
DAY 5: Füssen – Royal Castles
After a visit to the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein, a boat trip on Lake Forggensee rounds off the trip, weather permitting.
